Reconstruction is an essential part of anterior skull base surgery. If we look from inside to outside the following structures may need reconstructive repair after treatment of different lesions.
- 1.
- Dura mater
- 2.
- Osseos reconstruction (skull, facial skeleton)
- 3.
- Facial soft tissue
A very important part of reconstruction is the safe separation between the intra- and extradural space by performing a dura plasty.
Reconstruction may be necessary in case of malformation, trauma, inflammatory diseases and tumor. Basic principles will be discussed. The demonstration of exemplary cases for each group will be demonstrated.
In specific cases interdisciplinary cooperation is an important basis to achieve best possible results.
