Aims and Questions: The medical specialisation is automatically recognised across Europe. 64% of the people in the European Union (EU) feel comfortable with the idea of being treated by a doctor trained anywhere in the EU [1]. But what are the differences in training?
Methods: Data about the content of training for the specialisation in psychiatry and psychotherapy were gathered from 42 European countries.
Results: Content of training and working conditions for trainees vary significantly.
Discussion: Participants of the session “flipped classroom” will plunge into the diversity of training conditions to emphasise with trainees from different countries. Following this experience the participants shall use their expertise to evaluate the diversity to come to a conclusion how the process of European harmonisation in training and assessment can be addressed.
Take home mesage: This flipped classroom session is an experiment to understand the needs of trainees from different countries and to contribute to a European solution. Participants from all backgrounds, unexperienced students, trainees, professors and curricula designer are welcome to participate as this will enrich the discussion.
