Outline

Text

Background: Since 2012 Family Midwifes (FM) and Family Health Nurses (FHN) work for the District Leipzig. In the concept above, the Practice from FM and FHN an Evaluation about that Intervention is described for 2015. The District Leipzig did award the contract for creating an expertise over the effectiveness of FM and FHN work.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of FM and FHN on the self-efficacy experience as parents and coping with an everyday life with an infant from the family point of view. These include the safe handling of the health and wellbeing of the child and its physiological development and the involvement of the family in a supportive social network. It should be the focus, in particular, the intervention by FM and FHN and the specificity of the measure in the exercise of the accompanied families in contrast to other offerings of the early stage assistance.

Methods: The method of problem-centered interview has been selected by Witzel for data collection. The four instruments of PZI are short questionnaire and interview guide, fully transcribed tape recordings of the conversation and postscripts, created immediately after the interview. The analysis of data follows the technique of open and axial coding, based on the evaluation method of Grounded Theory. The transcribed interviews are coded and categorized. The results should be discussed with the accompanying families, for the purpose of participatory health research.

Results: The results provide important insights into the subjective experience of families with regard to the early stage assistance by FM and FHN which can be taken into account in future project planning. The offers can be planned more target group-specific and individualized tailored. For the purposes of participatory research, the families were interviewed, where FM and FHN worked. As addressees of the offer and as experts of their family life they offer, based on their world view on the strengths and weaknesses of the intervention. Therewith they open up a different focus and make clear that in the work of the FM and FHN and the design of the relational level significantly contributes to the success of the offer. It is planned to have the family’s take part in the assurance of the results.

Ethical criteria: Compliance with ethical and legal data protection criteria was monitored by the Data Protection Officer of the District of Leipzig.
