3rd International Conference of the German Society of Midwifery Science (DGHWi)
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hebammenwissenschaft e.V.
12.02.2016, Fulda
Welcome
The 3rd International Conference with the topic “Midwifery Research – Women in focus” has received great attention amongst midwives and midwifery students as well as researchers and members of other specialist disciplines. Until the beginning of the conference, we expect around 100 participants. The participants who have already registered, originate mainly from Germany, but also from foreign countries such as Switzerland, Canada, Australia and Sudan. For the international guests, the presentations in German language will be translated simultaneously in English.
The keynote speech is held by Professor em. Ellen Hodnett from the University of Toronto in Canada. Her presentation has the title “Implementing Best Practices in Intrapartum Care: What Can We Learn from Others' Successes and Failures?” (Abstract).
For the second time the abstracts of all the presentations and posters have been published as a supplement of the Journal of Midwifery Science (Zeitschrift für Hebammenwissenschaft). The editorial has been written by the president of the German Society of Midwifery Science (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hebammenwissenschaft e. V. [DGHWi]), professor Dr. Rainhild Schäfers. The president of the Hebammengemeinschaftshilfe e. V. (HGH), Mrs. Ursula Jahn-Zöhrens addresses a few words of welcome to the readers, so do Dr. Gertrud Ayerle and Elke Mattern on behalf of the editorial board.
We thank all those who supported the board of the DGHWi and the editors of the Journal of Midwifery Science in screening the abstracts received within a review process and in realizing the 3rd International Conference.
We hope you’ll find the abstracts of the presentations and posters worth reading.
