Abstract
Decision makers need to refer to the most recent, relevant and reliable evidence before making choices in the area of public health. However, the information, data and evidence available are of huge quantity, diverse quality and from numerous sources. Decision makers are asking the WHO Regional Office for Europe for a quick and complete overview of the best, state-of-the-art evidence on a specific public health issue.
In response to this need, the WHO Regional Office for Europe launched in 2003 the Health Evidence Network (HEN), a service providing focused evidence and information for public health and health care decision-makers in the WHO European Region. The aim of the HEN is to support European policy makers in finding and using existing evidence and information when making decisions and setting public health policies.
