Gliederung

Abstract

This presentation will describe some current settings in the UK, Germany and Austria within which evidence-based information has become important. These settings include processes of decision making by policy makers as well as health care professionals and consumers.

Evidence-based information will be defined and examples given of what evidence based information is and what it is not. The role of health technology assessment agencies and other providers of evidence-based information will be described as well as their paper and electronic publications.

There are a range of resources available for evidence-based information and some of the best will be highlighted. These will include HTA resources, systematic reviews, guidelines and digests of relevant and valid research. Furthermore, the TRIP database search pages will be demonstrated.

The presentation will end with some reflections of the current state of play and some predictions about future developments.
