Treatment of acute purulent inflammation of maxillary sinus remains relevant due to high incidence, despite comprehensive range of modern facilities and treatment of this disease.

We observed 63 patients aged 16–69 years with acute purulent inflammation of maxillary sinuses.Patients were ENT and x-ray examination of paranasal sinuses, sinuses seeding content on flora with definition of sensitivity to antibiotics. Content sinus investigated to pH,viscosity, mucopolysaccharides.Patients received general treatment, which included antibacterial, desensitizing and physical therapy. To increase the effectiveness of treatment of patients with acute purulent-inflammatory diseases of maxillary sinus in our general treatment was included mucolytic drug ACC.

Patients divided into two groups: In group 1, 33 patients who received treatment with inclusion of ACC 200 mg 3 times daily. Group 2 consisted of 30 patients who received only general treatment. Nasal discharge were absent in 26 patients group 1, 23 patients group 2,difficulty of nasal breathing was reduced in 18 patients of group 1, 7 patients in control group. On 5th day of disease there is significant improvement in these data in both groups with most positive trend was observed in patients with group 1: pH 7,4±0,3, viscosity 1,12±0,02, mucopolysaccharides 2,62±0,6; pH patients of group 2 was within 7,0±0,2, viscosity 1,2±0,02, mucopolysaccharides 3,6±0,4.

Conclusions: Inclusion of ACC in complex therapy of patients with acute purulent disease of maxillary sinus showed dynamics of clinical symptoms such as nasal congestion and reducing severity of projection of maxillary sinuses and nasal discharge is on the 3rd day of treatment, at the same time have improved rhinoscopic picture and improvement of mucociliary clearance.
