Postoperative swelling, hematoma, and nasal obstruction are frequently quoted as accepted sequelae of rhinoplasty surgery. However, patients increasingly seek minimally invasive surgical methods in order to maximize post-surgical comfort and to minimize the duration of sick-leave after the operation. The authors analyze a treatment concept that addresses the causes of tissue trauma in the peri-operative period. Results were analyzed in a cohort of 30 consecutive patients undergoing rhinoplasty through the endonasal complete release approach. Patients were photographed 10 days after surgery and the presence and degree of visible edema and hematoma was analyzed. The results suggest effective reduction of perioperative patient discomfort after rhinoplasty with the methods presented.
