Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a syndrome of multiple etiologies characterized by hyperglycemia and marked by the appearance of chronic complications classified as Microangiopathic. Hypertension, dyslipidemia and obesity are also considered risk factors for the development of hearing loss.

Methods: Cross-sectional study, analytical, held at the Occupathional health Institute The sample consisted of patients with diabetes mellitus type II, regardless of sex, aged between 30 and 60 years. Retinopathy diabetica find to all diabetes mellitus patients, and tinitus sing to hearing loss patients. The auditory characteristics were determined by achievement of pure tone audiometry.

Results: The sample had a greater number of female participants (63%). The mean age was 51.4 years. Study is based on the age of the therapy as well as the classification into two sub-groups, patients receiving insulin and those receiving metformin and glimenpirid. The findings related to hearing showed hearing loss in 63.2% of patients, all of which were sensorineural loss with a predominance of bilateral and symmetric, mild and flat configuration. To patients group without diabetes hearing loss is proportional to the age and type belongs sensorineural loss

Conclusion: Hearing assessment showed a predominance of sensorineural hearing loss bilaterally symmetrical, with more pronounced loss in high frequencies .

The correlation between the results of audiometry to the patients with diabetes typ II (the average year is 51 ) and to patients with hearing loss without diabets (the average year is 61), score of hearing loss are too same, especially with the predominance to patients with metformin.
