Objective: Because Posterior cervical discectomy (PCD) can removed only pathologic lesion, It is different from Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). In addition, there is less possibility drawback of arthrodesis. However, there are much muscle and facet joint damages to gain operation field. Percutaneous endoscopic cervical discectomy (PEPCD) in order to avoid such damage is ideal operation. Futhermore PEPCD has clear operative field by endoscopic continuous saline irrigation, short hospitalization and no need to do rehabilitation after surgery. But it is also difficult to do efficient operation, because limitation of visualization and limited surgical instrument. Recently, Unilateral biportal endoscopy (UBE) is introduced in spinal surgery. We tried the PEPCD case presented here using the UBE.
Method: 1 case presentation and video.
Conclusions: Posterior laminoforaminotomy will be gold standard operative technique because of development of surgical technique and advanced development of endoscope. Now, UBE is best technique for PEPCD because optimal visualization and using of various general surgical instruments.
