Objective: To study the multidisciplinary approach for skull base tumors with both intra and extra-cranial involvement and to improve the surgical efficacy.

Method: 78 cases were analyzed retrospectively. The relation between surgical approach and the origin and extension of the tumor is analyzed. The main complication and avoidance is discussed.

Results: Tumor total removal was performed in 48 cases, subtotal in 25 and partial in 5. Operation-related complications occurred in 36 patients without death.

Conclusions: Multidisciplinary Approach benefits the surgical therapy for skull base tumor with both intra and extra-cranial involvement. The origin and extension of the tumor is important consideration in determining the surgical approach. The injury of blood vessel and cranial nerves, cerebral spinal fluid leakage and intracranial infection is the main operative complications. The complication avoiding and keep the balance between efficacy and risk are the main concern.
