The guideline 04-06 of the Europäische Union der Hörakustiker e. V. (EUHA) describes a simplified setup to measure the individual benefit of a Wireless Remote Microphone System (WRMS). To this end, the guideline's measurement setup emulates a situation in a class or lecture room, where the listener is assumed to be in a distance of 4 m to the speaker. However, it is not clear how good this simplified setup can emulate the real situation. Therefore, in this work, the setup of the EUHA guideline is compared with a realistic classroom situation. For this purpose, the speech intelligibility of 20 subjects, with a symmetrical hearing loss of type "N3" according to IEC 60118-15, was measured for both situations. As speech test material, the Freiburger Einsilber Test, a monosyllabic speech test, and as noise the CCITT noise were used. Five different conditions were considered, e.g. different noise levels, or with and without WRMS. In accordance to former studies, the results again demonstrate the benefit of using a WRMS. Furthermore, for all conditions with WRMS no significant differences between the simplified setup and the real classroom can be noticed. However, a significant difference between the two setups can be observed for the measurement condition without WRMS. For this condition, the median is 7.5 % higher for the simplified setup.
