Tinnitus is quite common complaint of patients attending ENT specialist. Association of multiple etiological factors, hearing disturbances, strong emotional reaction of the pacient and limited possibilities of treatment, often make tinnitus a permanent stressor affecting the patient. Furthermore, some neurophysiological studies suggest that tinnitus complainers have limited abilities to resist the tinnitus as a disturbing phenomenon. Thus, in some cases tinnitus-patients develop a psychiatric disese.

In our prospective clinical study, we use standard diagnostic and therapetiuc modalities of tinnitus treatment in combination with psychiatric inventories (questionnaires) to ascertain the incidence of psychiatric disturbances in a group of patients and to describe effects of different modalities of tinnitus treatment on patients‘ psychic state.

We aim to integrate the routine psychical state evaluation within the common approach to tinnitus sufferers. As a result, we aim to bring a standard clinical guidelines describing an appropriate care of patients suffering with tinnitus, according to their actual psychic profile.
