This paper demonstrates the current status of wavefront-guided corneal surgery and its recent outcomes. In wavefront-guided LASIK treatments that have been performed out so far, a higher number of patients with an uncorrected visual acuity of 1.0 and better was reached than with conventional LASIK, however, the "eagle eye" was an exception.
In some of the patients, a reduction of higher order aberrations could be achieved but in most cases an increase was observed. The correction of higher order aberrations is not yet perfected because first, the predictability of the corrections can still be improved and secondly aberrations can be induced by treatment.
