Objective
Striae are an infrequent but dreaded complication after LASIK, which may result in glare, haloes and even loss of lines. Risk factors for striae are a thin flap, long exposure time during treatment and insufficient flap protection. Striae remain, if not treated.
Methods
Surgical manoeuvres include irrigation with hypotonic BSS, flap lift, deepithelialisation, stretching and sutures.
Conclusions
The video demonstrates a rational stepladder approach to the surgical treatment of striae. Depending on the persistence of the folds, an intraoperative decision of further steps can be made. Surgical procedures and outcomes of several cases will be shown.
