The International Psycho-Oncology Society and the European School of Oncology have developed an International Multilingual Core Curriculum in Psychosocial Oncology. It is the first Multilingual program dedicated to the education of all professionals working with cancer patients including medical doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, techniciansand so on. International experts in the field of psychosocial oncology have developed one-hour lectures on five important subjects in psychosocial oncology. These are 1) Communication and Interpersonal Skills in Cancer Care; 2) Anxiety and Adjustment Disorders in Cancer Patients; 3) Distress Management in Cancer: Standards and Clinical Practice Guidelines; 4) Depression and Depressive Disorders in Cancer Patients and 5) Psychosocial Assessment in Cancer Patients. Each lecture has been reviewed by language specific reviewers of the European School of Oncology. Furthermore one major goal of the webcasts has been the development of learning objectives for each lecture such as ‘Identify five core objectives of most clinical encounters with cancer patients and families’, ‘Utilize a method for giving bad news’ or ‘Implement the rapid screening techniques that are available for use in busy outpatient oncology clinics’. Each lecture is translated into six languages (English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Spanish). The webcasts are provided on both the IPOS and the ESO websites. As the evaluation is important due to the improvement and continuation of the program in the future, each participant has to register before to evaluate IPOS Continuing Education presentations and receive certificates of completion. This presentation will give an overview over the development, content and utilization of the Online Core Curriculum in Psychosocial Oncology.
