SMITH Science Day 2022

About this meeting
On November 23, 2022, the SMITH Science Day took place at the RWTH Aachen University Hospital under the motto “Improving clinical research and patient care sustainably – a review 2022”. In this context, project staff and especially young scientists presented results that were generated in SMITH during the development and networking phase of the Medical Informatics Initiative.
The main topics of the presentations and poster exhibition were:
- the progress in building the SMITH IT infrastructure
- the current status of SMITH use cases and data use projects (DUPs)
- selected results from the use cases and data use projects
- achievements in medical informatics teaching
SMITH is one of four consortia in the Medical Informatics Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to digitally network routine data from patient care across Germany and make it available for medical research. The initiative, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, entered its expansion and extension phase at the beginning of 2023.
