Biomaterials have emerged as promising tools for retinal repair and regeneration. However, the success of these approaches is contingent upon the properties of the biomaterials utilized. Factors such as chemical composition, mechanical properties, stiffness, porosity, topography, and surface chemistry all play a crucial role in determining the overall effectiveness of the biomaterials. Therefore, it is imperative to carefully evaluate and select appropriate biomaterials for each specific application in retinal research. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of the critical factors that must be considered while selecting biomaterials for retinal research.
