23rd Annual Meeting of the German Retina Society

German Retina Society

24.09. - 25.09.2010, Freiburg

About this meeting

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the 23. Annual Meeting of the German Retinological Society on September 24th and 25th in Freiburg. The sessions will take place in the "Kollegiengebäude I" (main university building I), the residence of the Freiburg University arts and humanities departments. This Art nouveau building is located centrally, approximately 10 minutes from the main train station.

This year’s programme starts on Friday with meetings on age-related macular degeneration and will be complemented by guest’s lectures from members of the German Ophthalmological Society Section Uveitis and the German-speaking Society of Intraocular Lens Implantation. At the end of the first conference day, we would like to invite you to a get-together in the "Historisches Kaufhaus" (a medieval commerce and customs building), situated right next to Freiburg cathedral.

At the beginning of the second day of the meeting and after the general meeting, we will be focusing on intraocular tumors, before continuing with High-speed talks with varying topics. Please feel free to use the following break to get more information during the "laptop-discussions" and by visiting the industrial exhibition. The morning programme ends with a meeting on basic science topics and translational research in Ophthalmology.

The main topic of the last afternoon will be dedicated to discussing retinal vascular diseases. Shortly after the annual meeting Lutz Hansen will retire from clinical life, but before, he is going share his thoughts on evidence-based medicine with us within the frame of the Meyer-Schwickerath-lectures. We succeeded in inviting Reinier Schlingemann, Einar Stefánsson and Sarah E. Coupland, leading European ophthalmologists, as speakers to our conference.

At 4:30 p.m., the meeting ends officially with a farewell reception. To close the Freiburg conference, a bus will take 55 "retino-oenologists" to the Gretzmeier family, EcoVin-vintners from Merdingen in the Kaiserstuhl area. We are looking forward to lively discussions and to spending time together.
