PROFANE is a European network including 25 partners with the topic and interest in falls prevention in an aged population. The work of the PROFANE is also focussed on improving postural stability among elderly persons.

Four different workpackages address several issues regarding falls:

  • Workpackage 1 has the focus on taxonomy and classification
  • Workpackage 2 is related to clinical assessment and management
  • Workpackages 3 has the focus on the assessment of balance function
  • Workpackage 4 is aimed at the psychological aspects of falling.

The four workpackages are linked horizontally to permit synergy and achieve major progress in understanding. Researchers and practitioners from around Europe are working together in this Network to reduce fall incidence and fractures among older adults.

PROFANE has disseminated the accumulated knowledge and expertise lately in reviews and papers. The presentation will discuss latest information and position of the PROFANE group.
