Introduction: After extensive neck surgery, particularly after revision surgery, with bleeding or hematoma and revision surgery after radiotherapy for cervical metastases in part distinctive wound healing disturbances were observed. Under the usual conservative measures of wound care, the courses are often lengthy. We present a concept for the treatment of wound healing with Vaccuseal dressings which shortens the healing process significantly.

Patients and methods: In four patients who had revision surgery after extensive neck wound healing, a Vaccuseal treatment for 5–10 days was performed with dressing changes every two days.

Results: In all patients after a maximum of ten days a significant acceleration of wound healing can be achieved by induction of granulation tissue with a significant reduction of the wound cavity. In two patients occurred after 10 days the primary wound closure, in two other patients the coverage by split skin.

Conclusion: The Vaccuseal treatment also provides for wound complications in the neck area an effective and quick way of suffiency wound treatment, which leads to a significant shortening of hospital stay.
