41. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Tropenpädiatrie und Internationale Kindergesundheit

Gesellschaft für Tropenpädiatrie und Internationale Kindergesundheit e. V.

12.05. - 14.05.2023, Bonn

About this meeting

The 41st GTP annual conference is held under the motto: Teaching. Tomorrow. Together. – Learning and Teaching in Global Child Health.
In the first and fifth block “Teaching and Learning” selected courses and countries such as Malawi, Sierra Leone and South Africa will be used to show how learning can succeed at different levels and under challenging conditions. The aim is to develop a better understanding of what opportunities we have to learn from each other in an international context and what we need in future in paediatrics to safeguard the quality of life of children. Moreover, Prof. Beate Kampmann, Director of the Berlin Institute for Global Health, and Dr. Mike English, lead Health Service Unit at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Nairobi, Kenya, will present in their plenary lectures how an affordable model for improving neonatal and paediatric care can be developed equitably – using Kenya as an example; and what lessons for the learning environment can be learnt from the development of a platform for vaccine research.

In the second block “Current Issues in Child Health – Migration” and in block three “Novelties in Clinical Paediatrics” you will hear, as usual, highly topical and diverse issues in Global Child Health, especially from our many international speakers.
Block 6 “New Ideas and Approaches in Child health” will provide us with a diverting and diverse overview over controversial and recurring global issues and come up with possible solutions.

In addition to the usual presentation platforms for young colleagues in the form of poster and oral presentations (where the generation of study hypotheses, the development of study designs, the implementation of studies and the publication of study results as well as the evaluation and implementation of results play a major role), we will also provide two new formats at this annual conference: In individual conversations that you can book in advance, you can get in touch with our speakers and international guests and – in the format of a World Café – you can also delve into the depth of various topics with your colleagues.

Free and current topics, e.g., of clinical care research and, for example, a book presentation round off the main programme.
