Advances in health information technology and medical informatics are laying the groundwork for significant improvements in clinical and translational research. Since first demonstrating significant improvements in research participant recruitment via Informatics interventions in 2004, Dr. Embi has continued to refine and evaluate EHR-based process to improve research. During this presentation, Dr. Embi will review successful informatics approaches applied to date, including specific examples of EHR-based point-of-care solutions that have been demonstrated to improve subject recruitment. He will also discuss the challenges that remain to developing widespread solutions and the next steps to help maximize the use of heath IT and informatics to overcome major bottlenecks to human subject research.
