About this meeting
No Knowledge Without Value
is the congress motto of the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (DKOU) 2019 in Berlin.
We believe that basic values such as competence, humane treatment and a responsible use of the ongoing medical progress are indispensable. As we strive to provide sustainable healthcare on the highest international level, we must endure increasing economic pressure, misguided management in the political sphere and scarcity of personnel.
The motto of our congress proposes that our actions as orthopaedic and trauma surgeons must always incorporate the highest standard of evidence and values.
In recent years DKOU has grown to become the largest European congress in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery. We aim to promote the exchange of knowledge and provide sufficient opportunity for dialogue on evidence and value-based medicine. Our main target groups are generalists and specialists, residents as well as experienced experts alike from all subfields of our specialties.
For DKOU 2019 we will focus on topics such as diagnostics, in particular imaging, joint injuries, osteoarthritis and joint replacement, orthogeriatrics, geriatric trauma and comorbidities, spinal injuries and diseases, management of severely injured patients, complications and pain management – we regard this spectrum to be profoundly relevant to our specialties.
Conjointly we wish to expand our horizons with our guest nations Canada and Italy within international and intercontinental sessions.
In addition, let us make it our common goal to further corroborate our evidence and value-based networks of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery. How can we promote patient-oriented, cross-sectoral integrated healthcare within our current structures?
