Having seen little real innovation in glaucoma surgery compared with cataract surgery in the last 50 years, we are facing a time of unprecedented interest and investment from industry. While pharmaceutical innovation is facing the serious challenge of generic prostaglandin agonsts, surgical innovation is increasing rapidly. In this talk I will discuss the role of the various types of surgical procedure in my practice and how I perceive this may change in the next few years.
