Outline
Text
Purpose: To survey the distribution of higher order corneal and ocular aberrations in a healthy refractive surgery population.
Methods: One eye of 70 ethnic Chinese subjects with an average spherical equivalent of –6.46±3.10D was measured with the Orbscan II corneal topographer and Zywave Hartmann-Shack aberrometer at a 6.0 mm pupil size. Height data were analyzed to determine the amount of spherical aberrations.
Results: Corneal spherical aberration was greater than ocular spherical aberration at 0.312±0.114 microns versus 0.200±0.170 microns.
Conclusion: Corneal and ocular aberrations in the South East Asian Chinese eye are significantly greater than that reported in other populations.
