Background: The femtosecond laser more and more replaces the microkeratome in flap preparation mainly due to its low complication rate. Furthermore the advance in femtosecond laser use for intracorneal lenticule preparation requires new instruments.

Methods: The video shows the use of the Breyer Femtosecond Spatula (Geuder Instruments) for femtosecond flap- and intracorneal lenticule preparation.

Results: This new spatula allows an easy and safe preparation of a.m. structures in a controlled manner.

Conclusion: The Breyer Femtosecond Spatula (Geuder Instruments) is an adequate instrument for femtosecond flap and lenticule preparation.
