Workshop: Systematic reviews summarize the results of several studies on medical interventions or the accuracy of diagnostic tests. By adhering to a methodological procedure, systematic reviews assess the quality of these studies, bundle and analyze the results. Thus, a systematic review provides a reliable overview of the current knowledge of a certain issue and can be used in decision-making for an intervention or a test, as well as in the development of recommendations, e.g. in the development of clinical guidelines. In this workshop, the participants receive a brief introduction into systematic reviews and to the methodological approach incl. the GRADE approach to grading quality (or certainty) of evidence and strength of recommendations. Depending on the number of participants, the critical evaluation of studies using an example of midwifery work and the GRADE approach is then practised in group work. This workshop is aimed at participants who have little or no experience in performing systematic reviews and should provide an insight into the methodological approach, which are deepened by small application exercises for a better understanding.
