The project involves the implantation of microchips in the relay neurons of the lateral geniculate nucleus.

The chips are radio frequency receivers and demodulators and deliver a potential capable of depolarizing neurons. The chips are of the passive type (their energy originates the same wave they capture) their size is approximately 3-4 cubic microns, and each one is tuned to a different frequency originated from an external emitter, this sends the stimulation pulses which are modulated by a camera, its implant is through an antibody against the glutamate receptor specific to the AMPA ionotropic relay neurons. The project is in the experimental stage.
