Many health science areas such as pathology, radiology, optometry, dermatology, epidemiology and so on are instrinsically visual. In fact, some subjects can only be understood through visual representation. As a result, images have a high importance in education, research, and in practice. Using ProQuest patented Illustrata techniques (deep-indexing), it is now possible to easily and instantaneously retrieve images, graphs, tables and figures previously hidden within journal articles. This enables researchers to have efficient, precise and relevant search retrieval because search terms can be matched to the index terms that have been attached to the images in documents. The presentation will show how the most relevant articles and images can be discovered on the new ProQuest platform.
