Background: Ear infections are still a common occurrence in spite of access to treatment in this era of antibiotics. In resource limited settings, human resources for health is equally limited resulting in late presentation of patients with ear infections, usually presenting with complications and at times moribund. This poses a diagnostic challenge considering the cost of CT scans to evaluate intracranial complications, as well as management challenges in the very sick patients.
Aims: To document complications seen in patients with chronic Suppurative otitis media, their management and outcome.
Setting: Kigali University Teaching Hospital is a public national referral hospital receiving majority of otological conditions. Files of patients who presented with complicated Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media will be reviewed. Demographic data, Presentation, management and outcome data will be extracted and analysed.
Results: Findings obtained will be presented in addition to a review of literature.
