For many years, the Friedrich-Wingert-Stiftung has been supporting scientific research projects in the field of medical informatics, linguistics and medicine, especially as far as they serve medical and nursing documentation and the further development of methods and algorithms for computer-aided analysis of medical texts.

Due to the lack of qualified junior staff in the field of IT in the health care sector, the foundation has established a support concept for students and young junior researchers at colleges, universities and other academic educational institutions. This concept provides for the annual award of up to 10 scholarships. The scholarship holders of the current funding year present their study projects at the gmds annual conference.
