Objective
To evaluate the IOL power calculation software OKULIX in patients after excimer laser surgery with age related cataract formation.
Methods
12 eyes of 8 patients underwent excimer laser treatment between 1985 and 2000. Due to age related lens opacification, cataract surgery was performed and the IOL was calculated preoperatively using the OKULIX software. Keratometry data measured with the C-Scan (Technomed) was imported. Axial length evaluated with the IOLMaster was entered manually. Postoperatively, the accuracy of IOL calculation was investigated by comparing attempted versus achieved spherical equivalent.
Results
Mean patient age was 54.3±9.1 years. An AR40e hydrophobic acrylic IOL with a lens power between 12 and 22 D was implanted in all cases. Mean spherical equivalent was -3.5±2.8 D preoperatively and -0.76±1.1 D postoperatively.
Conclusions
The OKULIX software ist suitable and reliable to calculate IOL power after excimer laser surgery.
