"Non-infectious uveitis in childhood" comprises a large variety of diverse entities: anterior, intermediate, posterior uveitis and panuveitis; uveitis with or without associated rheumatic diseases. The most common form is idiopathic anterior uveitis. The HLA-B27 positive patients with idiopathic uveitis or enthesitis associated arthritis typically develop late-onset uveitis with recurrent episodes of symptomatic fibrinous anterior uveitis that has a favorable long-term prognosis. In the groups of patients with RF-negative polyarthritis (5-10%) or oligoarthritis (13-50%), early-onset asymptomatic chronic iridocyclitis is typical that is often associated with vision-threatening complications. Intermediate uveitis in childhood has an increased risk of visual loss. The therapeutic regiment differs profoundly between the various uveitis entities. The objective of the presentation is to assess the effect of topical and systemic nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroids, immunosuppressive agents and biologicals for the various forms of uveitis in childhood. The previously published studies were analyzed and recommendations for the anti-inflammatory treatment are provided for the different forms of non-infectious uveitis in children.
