Head-Neck-Cancer-Patients: Experience of least developed country issues

Abstract
Introduction: Head and Neck Cancer is one of the commonest cancer in Nepal. Cancer of oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx are common sub-sites. Treatment is challenging because of late presentation, low socio economy status, and lack of awareness. However, good success rate has been achieved by proper treatment. Followup however is poor.
Methods: Retrospective data of head and neck cancer patient from 2005–2010 was done. They were classified according subsites. Modality of treatment, complication, survival and follow up was evaluated.
Results: Male predominance seen. Oral cavity was commonest subsite. Surgery with radiation was main treatment.
Conclusion: Head neck cancer is common in developing country like Nepal. Awareness needs to be done more strongly to prevent them
