G-I-N Conference 2012
Guidelines International Network
22.08 - 25.08.2012, Berlin
Editorial

Dear Colleagues,
Presenting the 2012 G-I-N Conference Proceedings, the Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) invites you to celebrate with us 10 years of G-I-N by attending the annual conference at its birthplace in Berlin, Germany, on 22-25 August 2012.
10 Years after the foundation of the Network, the G-I-N 2012 conference is a special occasion to reflect lessons learned and to discuss future visions for international collaboration. Guideline developers around the world discuss the opportunities to share evidence globally and the necessity to respect local differences influencing the decision making process at the level of formulating recommendations and policy decisions.
Consequently, the specific theme for this year’s conference is 'Global Evidence – International Diversity'. In this context, strategies and successful examples of international collaboration are addressed, ensuring that the diversity of the international audience is represented across sessions. Major topics are latest developments in defining standards of quality of guidelines, in the methodology of creating the evidence basis for guidelines, in patient involvement in guideline development and in implementation and knowledge management. We are delighted to present an inspiring programme with excellent speakers.
The 2012 G-I-N Conference Proceedings contain 320 abstracts from more than 40 countries to be presented at the G-I-N 2012 conference. These include abstracts for plenary sessions, workshops, panel sessions, short oral presentations, posters, all provided by an international panel of invited speakers and abstract submitters. Please note that the presentation format suggested by abstract submitters might have been modified to fit the final programme. Here the abstracts are presented in the format in which they were submitted.
In an extra section, the abstracts of the German language satellite symposium to be held on 22nd August 2012 are provided.
Enjoy reading the 2012 G-I-N Conference Proceedings, visit the conference website, use this occasion to develop and strengthen collaborations with people from a wide range of countries and organisations and join us in Berlin!
