In this work we present the word error and confusion patterns of the audiovisual and the audio-only German matrix sentence test (OLSA). In our work we evaluated audio-only/audiovisual and noise/quiet conditions with adaptive procedures targetting 80% speech reception. Our data indicate that word confusion patterns and word error change when adding visual cues, showing that visual and acoustic speech provide different information. Differences in the aforementioned items between speech in noise and in quiet were only found for the audio-only condition, thus evidencing that audiovisual perception is more resilient to acoustic conditions.
