Outline

Text

Purpose: Management of post traumatic endophthalmitis with corneal abscess.

Methods: Using temporary keratoprosthesis, vitrectomy with intra vitreal antibiotic injection was done followed by corneal transplantation.

Results: Six weeks follow up. Eye was quiet. Retina was attached. No anterior chamber flare and vitreous cells. Intraocular pressure was 16 mmHg. Best corrected visual acuity CF – 3.0 m.

Conclusion: Temporary keratoprosthesis allows better visualization of posterior segment in cases where the cornea is opaque and allows therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty in the same sitting.
