Different types of tissue in their physiological composition or the reconstruction of an entire organ with the patients own tissue are prefabricated at a calm and distant place from its original destination. After all components were growing together, its transplantation to the original destination is performed.

The advantage of those techniques is, that the reconstruction is done with the patients own tissue.

No immuno-suppression or similar treatments are necessary. The technique of the reconstruction of the laryngo-tracheal unit is demonstrated. How is tissue management functioning and what are the expectations for the fantasy and ability of the surgeons in the future.

The technique includes all kinds of tissue engineering.

Tissue management is the intelligent answer to the problems of transplantation in cancer patients.

This project is part of the collaboration within the European Study Group for Reconstruction of all Functions after Total Laryngectomy (EGFL).
