Impedance measurement is an common method in Cochlear Implant Telemetry. Increased impedances are usually associated with inflammatory processes such as labyrinthitis. However we also found impedance increases in absence of labyrinthitis.

We screened our patient collective (more than 2.800 patients) for impedance increases. Theoretical considerations and therapeutic suggestions are discussed.
