Objective

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) in patients with open angle glaucoma.

Methods

We used SLT with double frequency Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (Lasarex Solo) of 532nm was performed on 81 eyes of 68 patients with POAG. We devised the patients in three groups. First group - patients with POAG on which we performed SLT. These patients have never been treated medically before. Second group - patients with POAG on which we performed SLT. This group has been treated with one medicament before. Third group - patients with POAG on which we performed SLT. They have been treated with at least two medicaments for a long period of time.

Results

The results were taken on the third and on the sixth month from the beginning of the treatment. The treatment with the SLT laser was efficient and we achieved good results in more than 80% of the cases.

Conclusions

The procedure was well tolerated and can be used when the IOP is not under control in patients with POAG as well as in patients with contraindications for medical treatment.
