Fatigue is one of the most frequent disease and treatment related symptoms of cancer patients. It is the aim of medical and psychosocial rehabilitation programs to reduce physical impairments and psychosocial distress. There are still no reliable data on the prevalence or the pattern of fatigue in patients according to their respective cancer treatment. We therefore initiated a cross-sectional and longitudinal study to evaluate this phenomenon using the EORTC-QLQ-C30, HADS, MFI and IRES questionaire in patients with breast and colorectal cancer. The evaluation included pts. who had completed adjuvant cancer treatment at 4-6 month and 12 months after diagnosis as well as survivors at > 5 years. The study was started in 7/2002 and completed in 10/2005. A total of 1254 pts. were included into the cross-sectional study and 337 pts. within the longitudinal study. We will present the incidence of fatigue and the correlation with different medical procedures as well as psychosocial factors.
