Objective: We present our experience in the surgical treatment of cervical spondylodiscitis.

Methods: 29 patients with spondylodiscitis were studied. There were 17 men and 12 women, with age ranging from 26 to 85 years. Of the 29 cases, there were 7 cervical spondylodiscitis patients. All patients were pyogenic spondylodiscitis. 4 patients presented with paresis, 3 without paresis and 3 patients with diabetes mellitus. 4 patients were performed surgical intervention.

Results: 5 patients were judged as “excellent”, 1 patient as “good,” and 1 patient as “no change.”

Conclusions: The aggressive treatment of spondylodiscitis is indicated when conservative means are insufficient. Especially, about the cervical spondylodiscitis, whether it is good only in “decompression” or it is very difficult to ascertain enough “fusion” or “rigid fixation” whether it is necessary.
