Bark Scale analysis of the cornerstone vowels in American English of /a/, /i/, and /u/ in children with cochlear implants reveals that the evolution of vowel space in speech production is directly linked to the speech processing strategy implored with cochlear implants. The maturation of vowel space as a function of the key parameters of the cochlear implant map are discussed.
