In the surgical treatment of congenital fistule and cyst of the nose beside th complete resection aesthetic aspects are taken into consideration.
Authors report a 6 year old child with a congenital nasal fistule (dermoid cyst), who underwent documented surgical removal. An overview of the diagnostic and treatment of the congenital midface fistule and cyst is demonstrated.
The case report showed that in the symptomless fistule (cyst) due to a nasal bone fractue a nasal abscess developed. Repeated inflammations necessitated the exstirpation of the fisule anf cyst. The fistule (cyst) was resected through a minimal lateral rhinotomy, that was the place of breakthrough of the nasal abscess and natural midline ostium of the nasal fistule.
After the surgical treatment it healed with accepable, good cosmetic result.
