Surgical treatment of Otosclerosis with a CO2 Laser is a well established safe procedure. Our study analyses how many days of inpatient stay are necessary to deal fairly with complications. In a period of 12 month 96 patients underwent surgery. On the day of operation they had to stay in bed, after one day of movement under control they left the hospital on the morning of the second postoperative day, if there was no sign of dizziness or hearing loss. 10.5% of the patients presenting one or both sideeffects were treated with removement of the packing and or steroids till the symptomes disappeared. Later postoperative controls showed any case of hearing loss or persistant vertigo. We conclude that our management of two days inpatient stay offers safe results after stapedectomy.
