17. Grazer Konferenz – Qualität der Lehre 2013: Teaching Medical Skills

4. - 6. April 2013, Wien, Österreich

Willkommen

Dear Colleagues

Since this was, after a long time, the first Graz Conference on Medical Education not being organized by Richard März, it was not only challenging to find an interesting global topic and a suitable and affordable venue but also a new organizing committee had to take over. We convey our thanks to Richard März, for the many years of being the driving force behind the success of the conference.

This year’s conference was organized by Karl Kremser, Herbert Plass and Matthäus Ch. Grasl from the Medical University of Vienna.

We had the pleasure to welcome about 115 participants from 11 countries at the 17th Graz Conference on Medical Education 2013 at the Medical University of Vienna which was supported by the Medical University of Vienna and the Austrian Society of Didactics in Higher Education (ÖGHD).
Since Medical Education by far exceeds mere knowledge and application and attitude become more and more important, this year we focused on how skills for our future doctors are being taught and evaluated and choose the motto Teaching Medical Skills.

Several invited oral presentations and peer-reviewed abstracts in this topic of Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education expressed the existing interest in innovations and quality assurance in education.

For networking, after the poster party, a buffet contributed to the success of the conference for participants from central and Eastern Europe. We also had the pleasure to welcome all participants and guests of this meeting at the traditional society evening at the famous historical rooms of the city hall of Vienna.

We had an informative, stimulating and pleasant time at the 17th Graz Conference on Medical Education 2013 in Vienna.

We are looking forward to welcome you to the 18th Graz Conference on Medical Education 2014 at the Paracelsus medizinische Privatuniversität Salzburg, in Salzburg, Austria, co organized again by the Austrian Society of Didactics in Higher Education.
