Call for papers: Special issue "Teaching in times of Covid-19" of GMS Journal for Medical Education

The Covid 19 pandemic has radically changed teaching at universities. Within a very short time, almost all classroom teaching had to be converted to digital formats. It is still unclear how long and to what extent these changes will be maintained.

Against this background, the special issue "Teaching in times of Covid-19" is intended to bring together short articles on research and teaching projects as well as comments that were triggered in response to the Covid19 pandemic (e.g. digital teaching and learning, digital exams, training of examiners/actors, communication, challenges, solutions and lessons learned, impact of COVID-19 on future higher education, etc.). The special issue is planned to be published at the end of 2020.

On behalf of the GMA Digitization Committee, Daniel Tolks, Inga Hege and Sebastian Kuhn are responsible for the issue as editors.

Manuscripts submitted for this special issue should not exceed 6,000 characters (pure text including spaces) (see also the JME Author Guidelines for the JME category Short Articles and Comments).

Contributions with an interprofessional and interdisciplinary orientation, student initiatives as well as innovative teaching and learning scenarios are explicitly welcomed!

Of course, projects whose implementation produced unexpected results will also be considered for publication. Inquiries as to whether a contribution is suitable for the special issue should be sent by e-mail to Dr. Daniel Tolks.

Manuscripts can be submitted in German or English and will undergo the usual peer review process. After acceptance for publication, German manuscripts must be translated into English. We are looking forward to interesting short articles/reports, also beyond the German-speaking countries.

The deadline for the submission of manuscripts for the special issue is 31 July 2020. Please follow the author guidelines of the GMS Journal for Medical Education and make sure to mention that your submission is a contribution to the special issue "Covid-19".

Manuscripts can be submitted via MOPS (Manuscript Operating System) or via e-mail as a Word file to kontakt@gma-dach.org.

Short contributions that are not selected for the special issue but are nevertheless accepted for publication may appear in one of the regular issues of GMS Journal for Medical Education. As always, the final decision on publishing a contribution lies with the editors-in-chief.
