Figure 2: Effect of hypothermia on infarct volume. (A) After postmortem brain tissue examination, we observed a significant reduction in the infarct volume of hypothermic swine, when compared to the normothermic group. (B) After brain extraction, all brain were coronally sectioned into 4-mm-thick slices and stained with TTC (2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride). TTC-stained brain slices (numbers 1-15) are displayed here in a frontal to occipital orientation, observing the infarcted tissue stained in white (numbers 16-28).
