Table 10: Gene expression in the rat cochlea after noise exposure (PTS)

Some genes and their proteins that are found to be increased in the rat cochlea a short time after noise exposure if the stimulus applied suffices to induce a permanent threshold shift (PTS). After noise exposure, resulting in a temporary threshold shift (TTS), no increase in gene expression is found in each case in comparison to the unexposed control group (from: Lomax et al. 2001 [334]).
